Sun + Sand + Swings = Fun!

Continuing my catch-up blogging, today's 102 temp reminded me of an earlier, less heat-intense day with our little playgroup. We try to go every week, and there is always something really cute - but I ususally forget to bring the camera. I remebered it for this springy day toward the end of May. I really wish I had actually blogged this on the day we went - now I am reduced to captioning pictures and I am sure I am forgetting something. Here is what I remeber: We couldn't get Ben and Ginny to give up the swings willingly, so we tried to fit Will in with Ben. Needless to say it was a very tight fit and it took both Moms to get the boys out. This has to be the only time that Ben didn't enjoy going really high ... guess he was a bit uncomfortable?
Josh and Darla tried their hands at being the swing pushers - and they did really well! I was surprised at how long Joshua kept at it. Of course, his rhythm is just a bit off so he managed to stop Ginny with every push and she was begging him to go away - but I thought it was sweet!

On one of the few occasions where Ginny was not on the swing - in fact, the swing is where she wanted to get, but she just HATES the feel of sand under her feet and she would not step down. I just missed her face when she finally had to make that difficult choice (since her horribly mean Mommy wouldn't just walk across the nasty sand and pick her up). Ultimately she did walk over the swing ... and then she stayed there for the entire time.

Ginny had a lovely swinging partner in Darla. This was the first time Darla agreed to come with her older brother and sister (I was picking up the kids since their Mom just had a new little baby). She was lots of fun - and I think she had a great time.

The boys had fun seeing how much sand they could transport onto the playground. There is a little hole in the seat (maybe it is there just to put sand through - I don't know). This activity kept my boys occupied and (relatively) contention free for a very long time. I need to get some sand toys!
